The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has made mandatory recommendations that Level 2: SIA Top Up Refresher  training is now a compulsory skill for all Door Supervisor and Security Guard staff to renew their licence in the UK. Anyone working in the industry as Door or Security Staff, will be required to renew their licence and this new Refresher course has started from 1st April 2025.

Course Outline:
The Upskilling for Door Supervisors Course is 2-days long and has the following units:

Unit 1 – Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry

  • Understand physical interventions and the implications of their use.
  • Understand how to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used.
  • Be able to use non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others.
  • Be able to use non-pain related standing, holding, and escorting techniques, including on-restrictive and restrictive skills.
  • Understand good practice to follow physical interventions

Unit 2 – Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors within the Private Security Industry.

  • Understand counter terrorism issues relevant to a door supervisor.
  • Know the role of a door supervisor when first aid situations occur in licensed premises.
  • Know legislation and requirements regarding children and young people relevant to a door supervisor.
  • Understand how a door supervisor can help to keep vulnerable people safe.
  • Understand queue management and venue capacity responsibilities relevant to a door supervisor.

Course Duration:
Level 2: SIA Top Up Refresher Course has been designed to held for 2 days. We run this course 3/4 times in every week in various locations.

First Aid requirement for Door Supervisor Top Up Refresher training:
Before attending the Door Supervisor Top Up Refresher training course, you must have a valid Emergency First Aid qualification. If you do not have a valid First Aid qualification, you can book the Emergency First Aid training with the Top-Up Refresher course as a package.

Course Assessment:
There will be MCQ exam at the end of the course and practical assessments during the course.
